How does Calvin seem different from Meg’s classmates, and why do you think Meg begins to trust him?

I think Calvin is different because he does not make fun of Meg or act like she is strange. He listens to her and seems interested in Charles Wallace too. Meg begins to trust him because he is kind and honest with her. He makes her feel less alone.

In your own words, what does it mean to tesser, and why is it important to the story?

To tesser means to travel by folding space, instead of going the long way from one place to another. It is like taking a shortcut through the universe. This is important because Meg, Charles Wallace, and Calvin need to travel very far to find Meg’s father. Without tessering, they could not reach the places they need to go.

Why is Meg’s love for Charles Wallace powerful at the end of the book, and what did you think about the ending?

Meg’s love is powerful because IT cannot understand it or control it. She uses her love to reach Charles Wallace when nothing else works. I liked the ending because Meg wins by being herself, even with her faults. It made me feel that love and courage can be stronger than fear.
