Example answers

Printed at the front of the booklet, so your reader can see what a strong answer looks like.

Chapter 2: How does Fern take care of Wilbur, and why do you think their bond becomes so strong?
Fern takes care of Wilbur by feeding him from a bottle and treating him like he is special. She spends time with him every day, so Wilbur learns to trust her. I think their bond becomes strong because Fern saves his life and shows him kindness when he is very small and helpless.
Chapter 7: Wilbur learns some frightening news about his future. How does he react, and what does Charlotte promise to do?
When Wilbur hears that he might be killed, he becomes terrified and upset. He cries because he does not want to die. Charlotte stays calm and promises that she will find a way to save him. This shows that she is a loyal friend who wants to help, even when the problem is very big.
Chapter 12: The animals hold a meeting to help Wilbur. What does this scene show about teamwork and friendship?
The meeting shows that the animals are willing to work together because they care about Wilbur. Each animal has a different role, and they share ideas to help Charlotte’s plan. I think this is a good example of friendship because they do not leave Wilbur to face his problem alone.
