Chapter 2: When Mercy gets into bed with the Watsons, what problem happens, and why is it serious?

When Mercy gets into bed, the bed starts to fall through the floor because she is too heavy with Mr. and Mrs. Watson in it. This is serious because they could all get hurt if the bed crashes down. The Watsons are stuck and need help quickly. Even though the scene is funny, it is also a real problem for the characters.

Chapter 4: How does Eugenia Lincoln feel about Mercy, and what does her reaction show about her character?

Eugenia Lincoln does not seem to like Mercy very much. She thinks Mercy is a bother and is not happy when Mercy comes near her house. Her reaction shows that she can be strict and easily annoyed. It also makes her different from Baby Lincoln, who seems kinder and more patient.

Chapter 6: Do you think Mercy is really a hero at the end of the story? Explain your opinion using details from the book.

I think Mercy is a hero, but mostly by accident. She does not leave the house because she understands the danger; she is looking for toast. Still, her actions help bring people who can rescue Mr. and Mrs. Watson. To me, that makes her a funny kind of hero.
