The Hybrid Prince questions by chapter
We don’t know this book well enough to ask about its story, so these are open-ended prompts that get a reader thinking about the chapter they just finished: what happened, who changed, what they would do. One question per chapter, across all 30 chapters, and every one is editable before you print. The example answers under 3 of the chapters are the ones printed at the front of the booklet.
-

What is the most important event in this chapter, and how does it change what is happening in the story?
-
Chapter 2
How does the setting in this chapter affect the characters, the mood, or the action?
-
Chapter 3
What does one character want most in this chapter? Use details from the chapter to explain how you know.
-
Chapter 4

-
Chapter 5

-
Chapter 6
Choose one interesting, tricky, or powerful word from this chapter. What do you think it means, and how does it help the scene?
-
Chapter 7
What do you predict might happen next? Explain which clues from this chapter helped you make that prediction.
Example answer: I predict that the main character will have to face a harder problem soon. In this chapter, there were several hints that things were not fully solved yet. One clue was that a character seemed worried even after the big event was over. That makes me think the next chapter will bring a new challenge.
-
Chapter 8
How do a character’s feelings change from the beginning of the chapter to the end?
-
Chapter 9
What is one question you have after reading this chapter? What details make you wonder about it?
-
Chapter 10
How does the relationship between two characters change or grow in this chapter?

-
Chapter 16
Do you agree with a decision a character makes in this chapter? Why or why not?
Example answer: I partly agree with the character’s decision because they were trying to do what seemed right at the time. However, I think they should have asked for help before acting. Their choice made the situation more complicated. This shows that even brave choices can have consequences.
-
Chapter 17
What object, place, or event in this chapter seems important? Explain why it might matter to the story.
-
Chapter 18

Chapter 21
If you gave this chapter a new title, what would it be, and why would that title fit?
Example answer: I would title this chapter “A Difficult Choice.” That title fits because the chapter focuses on a moment when a character has to decide what to do. The decision is not easy, and it affects other characters too. A title like that would make readers curious about what choice will be made.
-
Chapter 22
How does the mood of the chapter change from the start to the finish?

How to use this The Hybrid Prince reading journal
At home, as a discussion guide
After each chapter your reader writes a few lines on that chapter’s question. Read the answer together at bedtime: it shows what they understood and gives you something real to talk about, without a quiz.
In class, as a novel study
Print a class set (booklets fold from plain letter paper) and use one question per chapter as the reading-response or literature-circle prompt. The example answers at the front show what a full answer looks like.
Homeschool
One booklet covers the whole book, 30 chapters, so it doubles as the reading log for The Hybrid Prince. Reword any question before printing to match your reader.
Printing
The booklet PDF prints on ordinary 8.5 × 11 paper: print double-sided (flip on the short edge) at 100%, fold the stack in half and staple on the fold. There is also a one-page-per-sheet PDF and A5 binder pages.
