Chapter 4, Hagrid arrives and tells Harry the truth about who he is. How does Harry’s understanding of himself change in this chapter?

In this chapter, Harry starts to realize that he is not just an unwanted kid living with the Dursleys. Hagrid tells him he is a wizard and that his parents were important and brave. I think this changes Harry because he finally gets an explanation for the strange things that have happened to him. He also begins to feel like he might belong somewhere else.

In Chapter 10, the troll attack helps Harry, Ron, and Hermione become friends. How does facing danger together change their relationship?

Before the troll attack, Hermione was not really friends with Harry and Ron because they thought she was bossy. When they help save her, and she protects them from getting in trouble, they all see each other differently. I think danger makes them trust each other because they have to work together quickly. After this, their friendship feels stronger and more real.

In Chapter 16, the trio faces a series of magical obstacles to protect the Stone. Which obstacle best matches one character’s strengths, and what does it teach us about that character?

I think the chess obstacle best matches Ron’s strengths. He understands the game and is able to think ahead, even when the pieces are dangerous and real. Ron also sacrifices his own safety so Harry can keep going. This teaches us that Ron is brave, strategic, and more important to the group than he sometimes thinks.
